Ride Features
Alpe d’Huez’s 21 numbered hairpins, each carrying a winner’s name — with the option to descend the wild back road of the Col de Sarenne instead of retracing the climb. The Galibier by its full northern approach over the Télégraphe, the Croix de Fer’s shifting moods, and the Lacets de Montvernier — eighteen hairpins stacked on a cliff face like a piece of land art, a road most visitors to the Alps never find. Days scale from one great climb to full queen stages; e-bikes keep mixed groups together.
Food & Drink
Savoyard mountain cooking earned honestly: raclette and tartiflette after summit days, Beaufort — “the prince of Gruyères” — bought from the cooperative that ages it, long valley lunches in Bourg d’Oisans, and a glass of génépi where the locals drink it.
Sightseeing & Culture
Tour de France history written on the tarmac itself — Dutch Corner’s painted legacy, memorials to the greats on the Galibier — plus the cable car from La Grave to 3,200 metres for a rest-day walk on the glacier, and villages where alpine life carries on largely indifferent to the circus that passes each July.

The Alps offers a plethora of 4-star hotels which we make use of. A roll out of breakfast straight onto the most famous roads in the sport is not uncommon, and neither is the return to a spa and a wonderfully set table by late afternoon. In the high Alps, location is the luxury; we choose the hotels that own the best starting points.
